Nos. 3-8 are the surviving houses on the east side. Joshua Hanson had an interest in this part of the estate and it was by his direction that J W Ladbroke granted Robert Cantwell, the architect and builder, leases of 3 and 4 in 1826. These are two-storey stuccoed houses over a semi basements, built as a joined pair. They each have a central entrance. Instead of the usual arrangement with main door and windows being in the same plane, but with the porch protruding forward, the door itself and the window and roofline above are set back so that the porch (supported on Ionic columns) is almost flush with the windows. Pilasters support the eaves of the roof.
Hanson similarly granted Cantwell leases of 5 and 6 in 1833. Nos. 7 and 8 may be by Cantwell, but he may have given the building work to William Drew.
It is not known whether Cantwell designed the houses on the west side. Either Cantwell or Drew built Nos. 10 and 11. Cantwell arranged for Drew to take the lease of No. 12 and for William Liddard to take the lease of No. 13 in 1838.
