The west Side of Pembridge Crescent was mainly built by Henry Cullingford. In 1854 the executors of W K Jenkins granted him the leases of Nos. 15-19, and Nos. 23-25. In 1858 he also took Nos. 26 and 27, and in 1859 Nos. 20-22. The end houses nearest Pembridge Road - Nos. 28 and 29 - were built by James Hall in 1854.
The east side of the road was, to some extent, monopolised by the family of Charles Maidlow, an auctioneer, who appears to have acquired the rights to many of the plots in about 1853. In 1854 he arranged for leases of Nos. 3 and 4 to be granted to Jane and Francis Maidlow. Nos. 11-14 went to William Maidlow. Nos. 7 and 8, to which Maidlow also had rights, was allocated to Christopher Garwood, a Paddington builder. Cullingford also participated on the east side of the road. In 1859 he built Nos. 1, 2, 5, 6, 9 and 10.
