James Hall was the principal builder here. Between 1849 and 1851, he built Nos. 1, and 3-9 on the east side. Plot No. 2 went to Benjamin Broadbridge, an architect, in 1846 and plot No. 10 went to Francis Radford in 1851.
James Hall also built Nos. 14-18 on the west side. William Radford had an interest in plots Nos. 11 and 12 and arranged for the executors of R Hall to grant the leases to H Pook of Old Kent Road in 1850.
